Patricia Rex
Mixed Media, Collage, Note Cards and Acrylic Florals. Born and raised in Littlefield, Texas, Trish was inspired by the arts and crafts women in her family and church. Winning the fire-prevention poster contest in second grade was her first accolade in a newspaper.
Encouraged by her teachers and scout leaders, Trish became a lifelong learner and teacher, retiring from the public school teaching in 2008. She taught in Leander, Midland and Andrews. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with certifications to teach in six additional areas. Trish has studied Watercolor with Carol Cooper and Marvin Stevenson, colored pencil with Kristy Kutch, printmaking and calligraphy with Pat Hutchins, children's picture books/illustration with Uri Shulevitz, Brooke Goffstein, Bill Martin. She studied Calligraphy and lettering with Reggie Ezell and with Debbie Itschner. |
Commissions
Trish enjoys painting and lettering 'sandwich' signs for businesses. $50 per side. (standard small size) Also does commissioned work, usually 11 x 14 acrylic/mixed media collage with scripture in calligraphy starting at $200. |
The smallest thing Trish has done is lettering a turtle name on its shell for the 4th of July Turtle Races in Andrews, Texas. The largest thing she has done is giant guitar props and juke boxes for choir performances and props/backdrops for the high school band state marching contest. (a New York city backdrop that was almost as long as the football field, props for a King Arthur theme including shading bricks on the 'castle', the hills in the English countryside, and the giant rock. (sword in the stone).
