Martha Rowlett
Martha Rowlett, long-time resident of Castell, has always been creating art,
including drawings from a young age. She graduated from Texas A&M with
an Environmental Design degree and began working on computer
generated architectural renderings in 1978; indeed, Martha was at the
forefront of computer technology in this field. In the early 90’s, Martha
joined with Larry Payne to form “Payne Rowlett”, a digital computer
illustration company. She co-authored a book called Architectural
Rendering and wrote many articles on computer illustrations. Martha and
Larry created commercial illustrations worldwide and even rendered one of
the illustrations for a finalist of the World Trade Center Memorial
Competition. Retiring in 2017 gave Martha more time to create and
explore: she began playing in the Hill Country Chamber Orchestra on
the cello; oil painting began in 2020, studying with Carla Sanchez.
Martha enjoys the challenge of painting different subjects. Martha
encountered a renaissance in her retirement, and that is fortunate for all
who enjoy her art and music.
